Today, once again, the Elena project has come to fruition! In partnership with Zanzibar Outreach Program, the fifth Mobile Camp was held, this time in the Kibijigia nursery school.
It is always an indescribable emotion to see the village getting closer to medicine, to see the professionalism of the doctors (and this time also Giulio, who worked as a dentist), to see the nursery becoming a useful center for the whole village.
Today there were dental visits, eye exams, diabetes tests, there were pediatricians, orthopedists, prevention and screening for breast and prostate cancer, for a total of about 40 doctors, nurses and administrative staff.
Initially, the turnout was low because there was a fear that the Mobile Camp was linked to swabs and vaccines, so there is a lot of resistance here; after a bit of word of mouth, however, people started to arrive and in the morning alone about 200 people were examined.
The next appointment is on September 11th in Kikadini.
