The night brings storm, but the morning is illuminated by the warm Zanzibar sun. The alarm is early but the energy is great. Today one of the most suggestive and uncontaminated places of this island awaits us, Uzi Island.
Access to this island is only possible via a narrow road that crosses a thick mangrove forest, passable for a few hours a day depending on the tides. When we arrived the water was still high and we walked throughrso the mangroves. Kilometers made of laughter, unexpected encounters, always full of laughter and smiles, pain from bare feet on sharp rocks, negotiations with fishermen to judge the catch of the day, all seasoned with so much admiration for the beauty of that uncontaminated nature. Finally arrived at the two kindergartens the morning passes lightly, between games, smiles of children and chants worthy of the largest football stadiums "babu Peppe" "babu Franco" they shout applauding the children sitting down to have a snack.
At the end, the most awaited moment for the children arrives: the delivery of the “biscuti” and the little books. Looked at as always with amazement and admiration, they look for each other with those little eyes in the class photo. The tide looms on the only road that can be taken to return, we head home, but not before having quenched our thirst and hunger with the best coconuts ever, present only on this magnificent island.
After lunch we set off again, divided into two groups. The afternoon is spent interviewing teachers and parents.
The sun sets with the usual beautiful colors that it gives to these places, tiredness arrives together with happiness for the day just passed. The fish caught in the morning is ready to be tasted, I don't make you wait at the table and I greet you loaded and impatient for the day that awaits us tomorrow.
