During the board meeting, held both in person and remotely in January, the members acknowledged the report presented by the volunteers regarding their presence in Zanzibar on December 4, 2021. Their visit aimed to attend the last Mobile Clinic Camp in the village of Unguja, organized by the doctors of the Zanzibar Outreach Program (Z.O.P.).
In thanking the volunteers for their work carried out in coordination with our representative, the board members decided to approve the received recommendations, which will serve as the foundation for the projects and commitments of the association in the year 2022.
The board wishes to thank the organization of volunteer doctors from Z.O.P. in Zanzibar for responding to our request by signing a commitment letter. This renewal extends the "Progetto Elena" for another two years, ensuring continued medical and healthcare assistance for children and adults in the villages.

Project "We Respect the World"
We are pleased to officially announce our new collaboration with Jamabeco!
We will move forward with a project focused on environmental education, respect and care for the land, and the protection of marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
It will be a new ambitious adventure, which we will carry forward by involving all the kindergarten children as well.

Collaboration with Imama
The general objective of the projects supported by Imama is to contribute to human and social development, improving individual and collective living conditions through education, vocational training, and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
Imama's projects emphasize the importance of work and education as fundamental aspects of human development. They start by addressing primary needs and progress toward educational, cultural, and relational skills that enable individuals to live consciously and with dignity.
Imama believes in a culture capable of connecting different worlds to foster social innovation. The collaboration between the for-profit sector, with its entrepreneurial frameworks, and the non-profit sector, which pursues social goals, is urgent and a priority for developing a solidarity-based economy aimed at reducing inequalities.

Environmental Project 2022/2023
A partnership has been established with the fully Zanzibar-based association JAMABECO. This agreement will cover the entire territory where our educational activities take place, fostering joint efforts in environmental education, sustainability, and community development.
The goal is to guide young children toward valuing and preserving the environment. Through specific illustrations and lessons in schools, they will learn about the daily harm inflicted on our planet and the unimaginable consequences caused by human negligence.
After spending two days in the classroom learning about environmental preservation, the children and their teachers are taken to the beach or surrounding areas. Equipped with gloves, bags, small shovels, and wheelbarrows, they actively collect scattered waste and debris.
After their cheerful and productive cleanup effort, the children are rewarded with a generous breakfast made up of fresh fruit.
The great success of the event "A Day for the Environment" garnered significant interest and achieved positive results. As a result, the board has approved the continuation of the collaboration for the year 2023.
Social Project 2022/2023
In the villages where the kindergartens we support are located, the association is carrying out a project to install small photovoltaic systems in what we wish to call their homes. Unfortunately, the images from the installation sites tell a different reality.
These are homes of extremely poor families, forced to live without access to water or electricity.
It has been found that the prolonged inhalation of smoke from candles can cause serious damage to children's lungs and their proper functioning over time.
To specifically prevent these health risks for children, the board has decided to launch an awareness campaign promoting the installation of photovoltaic panels. By providing electricity and enabling the use of light bulbs, these panels eliminate the need for candles, thus preventing the associated health hazards.
Due to economic constraints and budget limitations, the campaign has successfully provided support to approximately 20 families over the course of a year.
The interventions have been greatly appreciated by the communities, reinforcing the importance of these efforts. There is strong hope to continue and expand them with even greater dedication in 2023 and in the years to come.

Project "Kibidja Sports Field"
The village chief and all community representatives of Kibidja have invited us to contribute to the construction of a sports field, a project they have been tirelessly working to advance despite challenges.
Recognizing sport as an essential factor in a child's healthy development, the board has agreed to take part in this initiative, setting specific goals while establishing a clear condition: we will provide only the necessary materials, while the village will contribute all the required labor.
The initial phase of the project involved transporting soil to ensure proper leveling of the sports field.
The second phase of the project involved building the entire fence around the sports field, including the foundation and perimeter walls, reaching approximately 2.50 meters in height.
This phase of the project focused on refining the sports field infrastructure by plastering the entire perimeter wall, constructing a well, and installing two iron gates.
Fourth Step: Construction of the Stands
Fifth Step: Construction of Changing Rooms
The definitive project, which allowed it to be broken down into multiple steps, was presented by a studio in Milan and was officially accepted by the village.
The construction work is progressing well, and even at a steady pace, ensuring continuous support for the purchase of necessary materials. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
