Attention is focused on a new nursery school, “L’ASILO DI MFUMBWI” in Zanzibar, where during the inspection held in March the works for the redevelopment, management and organization of the new nursery school were planned.
MFUMBWI NURSERY TO DATE:
- The structure is composed of two classrooms currently used as a recreational space for children (managed by a mother from the village) and in the afternoon, sometimes, for Koranic school lessons.
- The entrance to the nursery is made of porous stone, which results in an enormous
difficulty accessing the outside courtyard. - The well is currently used as a landfill (among the biggest problems, plastic is often burned inside the courtyards of kindergartens).
- From the outside courtyard it is possible to have access to water, but the pipe is leaking and blocked (a trickle of water comes out).
PLANNED WORK FOR MFUMBWI KINDERGARTEN:
- The games will be changed;
- The well will be closed;
- The yard will be cleaned and fenced;
- The bathrooms (currently 2) will be demolished and rebuilt;
- The bathrooms will become 4;
- The classrooms will be repainted and the desks will be repurchased;
- The roof and false ceiling will be changed and painted;
- The plumbing will be redone;
- The exterior walls will be stuccoed and painted.
The renovation work will be completed in a few months.

ELENA D’AMANZO PROJECT
The project Gocce d’Amore in collaboration with Zanzibar Outreach Program is named after Elena D’Amanzo.
In the previous visit to Zanzibar, an agreement was made with the volunteer doctors of Zanzibar to carry out free medical visits to all the children hosted in the nurseries. What we publish is the program of the visits that will be held in the 1st four-month period and will be repeated in the 2nd and 3rd.
ZANZIBAR OUTREACH PROGRAM:
Dear supporting friends,
We returned to the villages of Zanzibar …
Nine volunteers who will form two work teams at our nurseries and who can't wait to start walking to the village of Kibidjia four times a day under the sun, and then starting in the village of Uzi working all day on Fridays and Saturdays.
Peppe and I followed with discreet but attentive eyes to this excitement that, once their commitment was over, would continue in the following days with the visit to the chicken coop and to all the nurseries, the last one, Jumbi's nursery, three hours before the return flight.
Afterwards we visited their work and were thrilled by the beautiful drawings that filled the bare walls and looking at their happy photos of how their smile had infected the teachers and the entire village.
We did not want to lead them by the hand as happened on other occasions but Investiti dalla responsabilità we were pleased to discover their value in organizing themselves, in being cohesive and in respecting the roles in the chosen tasks.
We wish you a good read and thank you for your generosity and trust that we see rewarded in the smiles of the children in the enthusiasm of the teachers and in all the villages where we are present with our initiatives.
Franco and Peppe

VOLUNTEERING TRIP OCTOBER 2019
Aid is a concrete response to a clear need.
Behind every volunteer trip there is this awareness: going to the place to see, where seeing is not an action in itself, but corresponds to knowledge - a bit like the verbal voice οἶδα of the Greeks: I know because I saw, and the desire to know makes you leave with a suitcase full of questions: how will the children and teachers react to the games we will play in the kindergartens? Will they look curiously at the booklets we have prepared? Is the latest kindergarten ready to be inaugurated? How did the medical visits go? What are the health needs that the Elena D'amanzo project can respond to? In the pages that follow you will not find a single answer, but different points of view of eight kids who have never stopped getting involved, seeing, comparing and learning.
The balance ends positively: the children had fun, the last nursery school was inaugurated and thanks to the Elena D’amanzo project, eye exams will be carried out in the next 4 months and the planning of mobile camps open to the entire village is planned.
Aware of what we have seen, what is the next step, back to the base? Be visionary! See beyond starting from the needs without ever anticipating the times of an island whose rhythm, which to us seems pole pole, has never stopped going in time. Diana
