In 2016, the journey undertaken since 2008 with Why ended.
We had grown up together and our desire was to be able to make our own decisions and control the management of the nurseries, the teachers and the children.
We have therefore carried out a thorough survey of all the nurseries, drawing up a long list of interventions to eliminate the various deficiencies found and long brought to the attention of the village community.
We then proceeded to carry out and then execute from time to time the required and necessary interventions such as:
– Partial or total repair of roof coverings;
– A new definitive fencing of the areas belonging to the nurseries with gates;
– The restoration or replacement of existing games in the internal areas of nurseries;
– Try to solve the water problem with wells and where not possible with
the installation of large plastic tanks which were filled by the
teachers or villagers;
– To solve the age-old problem of recess by building concrete platforms where children could eat their snacks;
– The arrangement of the toilets with the installation of floor-mounted squat toilets and wall coverings;
– Painting the external and internal walls of the classrooms;
– To the regular and punctual payment of fees to teachers of all kindergartens;
All the works, which will end at the end of 2018, with quite expensive interventions have restored the efficiency of the artifacts and satisfied the requests for better livability.
Our planned and organized visit was aimed at verifying the results obtained by the teachers and heads of the villages where the kindergartens were built after the agreement signed in March.
The trip we made in September and the relative stay of about ten days gave us the opportunity to visit all the nurseries and to verify:
- The teachers' total satisfaction with the salaries regularly paid every month
- The presence in our meetings of one or more village leaders, in fact we expressed in the March meeting the request for a greater and indispensable co-interest of the village, confirming with their presence that our invitation had been appreciated;
- KIKADUNI NURSERY
(classroom floors – gate – well – internal and external paintings – roof – games) - UZI ASYLUM
(external painting – internal painting – roof – games) - ASYLUM MTENDE
(Internal painting of classrooms – external – roof and partial completion of fence for inclusion of bathrooms) - CHARAWE NURSERY
(external – internal – roof – games) - UNGUJA NURSERY
(arrangement and completion of fence)
