Our first trip to the villages of Zanzibar dates back to October 2007 and, assisted in the reconnaissance by WHY volunteers, we collected the first requests for help from the villages to improve some existing but not equipped or unfinished structures. These were satisfied by our association with the first aid contributions received from our supporters.
–In the existing high school in the village of UZI a Swedish voluntary association had built a new building for three new classrooms, which were furnished by our association with three desks for the teachers and 45 benches.
-In the Village of Cherawe in an old building used as a place of Koranic worship but also as a nursery school. Shoe racks and wardrobes were provided, promising the village chief our intervention aimed at building a new real nursery school within the next year.
-In the Village of Jambiani more precisely in Mwendawima there was a fairly dilapidated building where children were housed in two classrooms on the ground floor with nothing else. Here a third classroom was built, desks, benches and various furnishings were provided, a toilet block was added with a relative sewage collection well and a fence was made with wood and plant panels.
-in the village of Kikadini part of Jambianj there was a high school and in this only one classroom was intended for kindergarten..furniture was provided for the spaces temporarily granted to the kindergarten with the supply of 45 benches and three desks. In the near future WHY would have with the contributions of a new independent body for three new classrooms.
