Elena D'Amanzo Project – Specialist Visits

Jan 16, 2020

Dear friends, donors and volunteers, Franco and Federico have been on Zanzibari soil for three days. As always, the journey is long and tiring, but this time we are happier and more excited than usual. Words cannot explain our pride, our hearts beat too fast to be contained in a few lines, but we will try to make you participate in what is happening in Africa because it is also thanks to you, to your generosity and your support that all that weyou see it's possible. 💙🌍

To you, Federico's words:

” Rain was forecast for today, and indeed it came down like a torrent, but despite this, when we went to the kindergarten in Kibigija at 7:00, there were already several mothers and fathers with their children. At 8:00, with only 10 minutes of delay (and in Africa this is rare) we left together with the children and parents of Kikadini and Mendwima. There were a total of 41 children and the punctuality was a beautiful sign of appreciation from the families.
Once they arrived at the hospital, each child was examined to verify the effect of the medicines prescribed in the previous months and four of them no longer needed the operation. The others, however, were taken to the operating room one by one, anesthetized, and their ears were unblocked. Once finished, since they were fasting for the operation, a meal was provided to which we added the famous biscuits that we always bring to the nurseries.
From the doctors' side, everything was very transparent, in fact we were able to witness every phase, even in the operating room. At the end we spoke with Dr. Noufal, head of ZOP and we talked about future commitments that concern ZOP and Gocce d'amore.
This day is definitely one to mark on the Gocce d’amore calendar because we were able to see first-hand the realization of the Elena d’Amanzo project, for which the help and support of all the volunteers and donors was fundamental, who contributed, with many little pieces, to form a beautiful puzzle.”
