About Us
Gocce d’Amore per i Bambini dell’Africa (Onlus) It is a non-profit organization operating on the island of Zanzibar promoting and funding the construction, maintenance, and recreational support of twelve nurseries and their villages.
It was founded 2007 in 2007 by Franco Vagelli with the goal of supporting the poorest villages on the island.
A needs assessment revealed that one of the greatest emergencies was the state of complete abandonment in which those children who were still too young to attend school, which starts at the age of 8, found themselves.
Building nurseries that could serve as a safe place for socialization and growth then becomes the solution.
Since then more than a thousand every year learn and play in a peaceful environment where the teachers are men and women from the village.
Many projects have been created and are still being created both inside and outside the nurseries. We see the nursery as a reference point for the entire village: a vehicle for continuous promotion and growth.

Our mission is driven by a great ambition: the end of harmful welfare dependency as a premise for future self-determination.
Building nurseries is a means for the integral development of villages in the southern part of Zanzibar Island that are experiencing poverty.
We operate with a collaborative approach collaborazione, respecting the needs of the communities we support. We welcome the social requests of the local population (environment, sports, drinking water, and lighting facilities) and strive to align them with our capabilities.
The nursery in the village, for the village, belongs to the village. Once built, however, the non-profit continues to promote and support it over time.
The volunteer who wishes to join our large family will, therefore, be called to collaborate by proposing, implementing, or supporting ideas and projects that involve the nurseries and the population we work with.
